Input Device/sketchpad/tablet?

Hi Guys

I want to purchase one of these but dont know anything about them, and dont know where to start

I would be using it for two purposes i think

1/handwritten note taking
2/to draw simple diagrams

How do my scribbles show up on my pc, what filetype for example?
Can others view them on their pc?

As you can probably see I really dont know anything about them

Any help would be great:D

the most affordable and versatile would be Wacom's Bamboo Fun tablet

however for less a focus on art/design and more on note-taking, these might be better suited to you: tablets I find are not the best for note taking as theres a bit of a disconnect from where youre writing physically and where you see the result.

The notepad has the added benefit of not being tied to a computer while in use.
