Eircom versus Skype or Blue face

Office setup of 4 land lines.

We are getting huge eircom bills (very few international calls)
    50/50 land and mobile calls.

How do fees compare from Eircom versus Skype or Blue face for land line / mobile calls?

Is it better to go with blue face or skype.

    Thanks

I was with Blueface for the last 3 years, great tech support, geo-numbers and pricing ok. Changed to Eircom broadband talk two weeks ago, can't get it working, tech support useless and a complaint sent in Tuesday has yet to be responded too - and still NO VOIP. My advice talk to Blueface and any others, while Eircom talk the talk.....

    Hi

Have a look at a GSM gateway as an alternative to your landline to mobile calls, most mobile operators offer free mobile to mobile calls on their networks for as little as 20 euro per month.

FYI, I have now heard from Eircom regarding BB Talk. This is NOT working properly, at present they have 17+ customers who they cannot get working, can't clarify the issue and have no idea of when a fix will be available. Glad I have my POTS line!!

Have Blueface a good while now. No phone line. Have used them with Chorus, Digiweb and Clearwire [gasp, when they were good.]

No problems at all. How ever, you will need to top up your account the odd time for mobile calls. Mobile calls are not included in any of their monthly charges. However, I'm still saving money for my business compared to normal landline.

I had significant problems with blueface, between getting numbers working, the inability to make outgoing calls for a while, and a charge they unilaterally decided to levy, over which I took them to comreg.

Skype works better than VOIP if your connection is marginal. I tried Blueface on NTL and it was too laggy to work properly. NTLs fault not Blueface. Skype was ok, but I didn't know anyone with it, and we had no Skype in/out at the time. POTs was much better quality.

Of the retail services,Cant fault eircom talk, just works(thought not the cheapest in town) blueface has it issues, but your talking 95% uptime except for a few exotic destinations, there isnt much other competition in ireland for retail. For business it's a different game....(magnet(very good) and smart have(maybe had here) good products) What gear are people using with eircom? asterisk works?their provided ata works?
For mobile calls an ip based GSM gateway pays for it's self quickly if it has the right sim card in it.
