Does anyone else get pissed off with youtube? It seems that you cant search for anything without some getting links to morons who have done some stupid tribute video with links to their website...

If you search for a song you have to sift through crappy cover versions, search for a clip and you find peoples remixes of the clip badly timed to a crap song....

I actually discovered this for the first time last week. Admittadly I'm not a big youtube user but the odd time I would. Case: Last week I was looking for South Park/Family Guy clips. Quite literally, the first 20 clips I clicked on weren't what appeared in the description (possibly 1/25th of a frame only) but just still pictures with pumping music pimping a website.

In the end I just quit without even finding a single real clip - not sure how I got that string of luck but I haven't been back since.

You need to filter your search results on views, ratings etc. Or do it directly through Google.

Must have sifted through about 20 clips.
Dont think I found the actual clip in the end.

I had the same issue today, I was looking for a south park clip but can't sift through the crap or being Rick Rolled which lets face it, has gone way passed its sell by date. I didn't even find it very funny at the start.

The very worst thing on Youtube by miles is when your looking for a scene from a movie, like a good fight scene that you haven't seen in a while. And some little fat American bastard decides the best thing is to completely remove the sound and put some music over it instead. And it's always ghey emo music or nu metal.

Taking a scene and putting it on youtube isn't exactly honest, but it's just an absolute kick in the bollocks when you want to see that quick fight scene from 300 and then some little wanker has decided "oh you know what? I bet the Spartans listened to Aiden, or Slipknot! In fact, I'll put both songs in there and mash them up and then i can put the link on the inside of the my locker and that hot cheerleader will be impressed by my arrangeing skillz and ask me to the prom!"

Well that won't ****ing work sunshine because regardless of how good you are at ruining scenes the real reason she won't go to the prom with you is because you are an overweight sack of ****e with bad taste in music (which you insist everyone should hear) and a crappy haircut and all you have to show for the last 4 years in school is you level 80 character in **** of Warcraft and a playboy special edition, unreadable because the pages are all stuck together. **** off and die!

That's the nature of the beast when you're dealing with a publicly accessible site (a lot like boards actually, where you have to take the meat with the poison).

I have a far bigger problem with the hit and miss nature of the videostream, where half the time you're left looking at a frozen image. I hardly bother with youtube as a result.

The problem is that Youtube is the usual Peer 2 peer way of avoiding copyright. They don't vet videos people upload or there would never be any copyrighted material and none of us would ever bother with it. But with that they can't then be seen to be vetting the idiots that don't realise the purpose of Youtube's relaxed upload restrictions are to dodge the law, it doesnt meant they, along with us, want to watch you're homemade crap.

I think the videos should be limited to a smaller amount of tags and the tags must be relevant to the video in some way or they get temporarily removed.

The ABSOLUTE worst was some guy who made videos in which he said he would go to every who left a comments site if they viewed his clip a certain time. Thus he would get lots of views and get to the days most viewed clips .....for apparently no purpose?! Every video was just the same thing.

Or these awful "YouTube Celebrities" who are just over the top gay people ranting about any old crap. Megavideo and Break.com FTW, YouTube is incredibly annoying now, there's no policing the spam and misleading videos (the rule of putting a photo that isnt part of the video in the middle of the clip to show as a preview in particular irks me) but anything you might want to watch is taken down right away by corporations
