Ordered Sky last night and they said that it would be installed next Thursday between 8.30am and 5pm.

How likely is it that this will be adhered to??

Nothing to do with them. From this point on they dont know you. :)
What i mean is they have passed install info to their subcontractor and the question is really how reliable your install guys will be.
There are some very good but also there are very few who don't turn up, dont call to inform of changes or come but have complity wrong install request to what you have ordered.
However i would think they are getting better since lots of people are turning off sky and moving to freesat so they need to improve standards to keep new/existing customers happy.

    Good luck!

I recently switched from Sky to NTL and find the customer services lines far better with NTL than Sky ... so far

I'd say the only reason why they would be late is because its near Christmas and their workload is usually considerably higher (might not be the case this year). I got it installed at Christmas time a few years back - the guy arrived @ 9pm to install.

Anyone see Prime Time last night? UPC/NTL on there but not sky. The programme was about bad customer service.

I've found Sky to be 100% reliable in terms of being punctual. However I'd say keep a close eye on the engineers when they do come.My experience was that after they left I could no longer close my door as wires were tacked right onto the jam and I had a bad leak in my roof just where it was installed!

It was all eventually taken care of by Sky after a visit from an area manager but still, best to be vigilent while they're there.

something very similar happened to me but I suppose it depends on the local contractor, I was recently told (by a former employee) that the company who have the official Sky contract in my area only have 30 minutes max. to complete each job and then they have to move on. Even if it means doing a botch job and scheduling another appointment to fix it.

He did a few bits inside the house that night - phone line etc and returned the next morning to install the dish as I wasn't keen on it being installed in the dark!:pac:
