UPC rolls out Fibre Power Internet to 1.1 mln Dutch homes Thursday 11 December 2008

UPC's high-speed Fibre Power Internet service is now available in 1.1 million households in the Netherlands, offering network speeds of 60 and 120 Mbps or five times the speed of ADSL. The network based on Eurodocsis 3.0 technology is now available in Rotterdam, Eindhoven, Nijmegen and Dordrecht, following a launch in Amsterdam and Almere in September. Other cities and towns will follow next year. At the end of September, UPC's network passed in total 2.73 million homes. UPC expects its Fiber Power Internet network to help develop new services, such as high-quality video and streaming media, as well as assist distance learning, work, security and care. UPC subscribers wishing to access the network need a new cable modem.
