Dual Monitor - Video Card

    Hi,

can anyone offer advice on this.

Currently I have a dual monitor setup working with a good newish screen (on DVI), and a tiny old one (on VGA). The video card just has 1 DVI and 1 VGA output - it's an 256MB ATI Radeon X1300PRO

I now want to replace the second screen and ideally get it working via DVI.

Should I buy a new card with dual DVI ports and dump the old one, or just add a second card with a single DVI port ?

    Thanks.

You can do either. I run two screens off a dual dvi card. And in work we have a number of pcs with two video cards.

But you're not going to gain a lot really with a new card. I'd just run the second screen off the vga port on the card you have.

OK - I'll try it with the VGA port first.

Was just worried that the new screen mightn't work so well, as it'll be at a higher resolution than the current one.

    Thanks.

I had a 19" on a VGA port and a 21" on DVI at one stage. Worked grand. With movies you might notice a slight difference but for normal use - nothing.
