Steve Cunningham is normally in boring fights but tonight he was forced into a war that is only pipped to fight of the year by Israel Vasquez v Rafael Marquez III.

Adamek showed an granite chin and an iron will as he took flush hard shots from Cunnigham throughout the fight, refusing to go down anytime he was in trouble, and when he really needed to he pulled out necessary knockdowns.

Cunnigham struggled to take Adamek's straight right hand when it landed clean and it was only in the latter stages of the fight that you stopped expecting Cunningham to crumple to the canvas everything he was hit with one on the chin, as Adamek's power declined with fatigue.

Adamek is never in bad fights and his two wars with Paul Briggs were something special. I never expected him to cut through the Cruiserweight division as he has done aswell.
He stopped two time challenger Luis Pindeda in 7 rounds to win the IBO belt in his first fight at the weight.
10 months after that he stopped former undisputed champion O'Neil Bell easily in 8 rounds in an IBF eliminator and now he's gone and beaten the man generally considered to be the best at the weight, flooring him 3 times in the process to claim the IBF and RING magazine title.

I'd love to see a fight between Adamek and Guillero Jones now, that'd be another brutal war.

Yeah, I agree with you again here, he's an out and out warrior.

Again, I lost money on this one (been a bad few weeks) as I thought Cunningham would nick it on points by outboxing Adamek between getting hurt, but the Pole managed to do more of the 'hurting' than getting outboxed by the sounds of it.

From the early reports it was supposed to be a cracker, surprise, surprise (not).
Did you actually see the fight ?
    If so, where ?
