Personalised Trocaire boxes

    Back in the 1980s we had a cat called Cuddles. We hired a photographer to take some high quality photographs of him and created our own Trocaire box with his image on the front.

    It was the same shape as the regular Trocaire box and looked similar. However Cuddles' face was prominent on the box and instead of 'Lenten campaign' it said 'Cuddles campaign'.

    A number of boxes were printed up and given out to classmates. The money collected was sent to Trocaire so that they could take care of African cats.

    Despite our generous donations Trocaire never acknowledged them. In recent times I have approached them repeatedly about a similar campaign on a larger scale but they continually ignore my emails and avoid my calls.

    Is anybody else interested in getting a personalised Trocaire box with a family pet on it? If so, please contact me. A show of strength may convince Trocaire that there is merit in the proposal.

    How about a trocaire box with a diamond mine or an oil well on the front?

    I remember a really scary Trocaire ad sometime around the mid 80s that just showed a red candle in the middle of a pitch black room with wind sound effects. A scary voice over went over the top of it too. Ring a bell with anyone???
