Does anyone else think giving a thanks to a mod for banning or infracting someone is akin to that kid who ratted out people doing their homework down the back of class?

Out of curiousity like......just smells of annoying brown nosing of the highest order to me.

What about the people who thank something ban or infraction worthy but don't have the balls to say it themselves because they know they'll get banned.Personally I think a pussy who likes to get sly digs in at people is a hell of a lot worse than a brown nose.

I would have thought, it the case pointed out by the OP, that the "thanks" was more in agreement with the decision as opposed to some sort of internet brown nosing attempt.

Brown nose me first and we'll see. :D Nah, it's not ban worthy. Thank away.

Edit: I think you need 25 posts before you can thank. Slap out another post there and see.

l agree with that , I think the thanks are from posters who would have done the same thing , if they had the power to do so.

That and people thinking, "thank God for that" or "It's about time".

I agree. But I also think that Thanking a post that was the cause of the ban is not "a pussy who likes to get sly digs in at people" either.

I agree with the op its pathetic, see it all the time here too. Don't believe for a second that its because people agree with the decision. In 90% of cases its pure and simple brown nosing, mods who think otherwise are clearly deluded.

it is kinda brown nosing but tis only a website there is billions of them. Not gonna worry meself about people brown nosing. I got an infraction today then the mod decided to ban me instead . I pm'ed back just asking why didnt he/she just make their mind up. Said it was a fair enough decision though and laughed it off. Mod never got back to me. Ah sure its all good. Last time i got a ban i pm'ed that mod just saying it was a good call and that i wasnt going to start one of those stupid threads giving out about his decision. Nice chap. Got back to me and all. Think he found it mad that the person who received the ban actually pm'ed him laughing about ban but accepting i was wrong. Feck it sure its only for a week anyways.

Interesting views from a newly created account.

I'll thank a mod if I see them taking action against a poster that is spamming,
blatantly trolling, shilling, over using text speak or abusing people.

If that's misconstrued as brown nosing by certain members I care not as I'd
rather that than see Boards ending up as an asylum run by the lunatics.

You're in the wrong forum so then. All karoma's schitzophrenic (spelt it wrong but I have no dictionary installed on this pc so meh) personalities are nuts.

Mods thanking each other or an Admin is the pits.

I think its more akin to the "you ****wit" button that so many people seem to want.

The way people get hung up over who thanks who for what is a bit weird.
Does the first person to receive 10,000 get a medal or something?

On the upside, it helps us identify the twats that do it. T'is like a player patting a ref on the back for sending an opposing player off. Extremely slimey.

I see this has become another thanks-whoring thread. just like every other thread that mentions thanks

I ****ing love doing that. It just adds another layer to the whole wonderful power trip. It's all part of the glamorous live every day like it's your last life of your typical mod. Did you know in the mod forum they call me Dr. BanLocko? They have so many great mod in-jokes. You'd laugh for days.

I thank people who make me laugh, back up my arguments and people who I agree with. I also thank people who make a great post or statement and *I thank all mods whenever I can so it might reduce my chances of being banned, which is always pretty high :P

*I may or may not be joking.
