Geraghty return?

Graham Geraghty, the former Meath footballer, has admitted that he could be tempted out of retirement after the Royals were pitted against old foes Dublin in the opening round of the Leinster Championship.
Geraghty called time on his 15-year inter-county career last July following the humiliating qualifier defeat to Limerick.
However, the prospect of facing Dublin at Croke Park on June 7 is one that definitely appeals to the Royals stalwart.
"It would. It would appeal to anybody," Geraghty said.
"That would be a big thing alright. But we'll have to see. As the fella says: 'when the ground gets harder, we might have a look at it'."
Geraghty said he has not had any contact with Eamonn O’Brien since the new Meath manager was ratified last month.
The pair have worked together in the past, when O’Brien was a selector under Sean Boylan.
"I haven't heard anything from anybody [in the Meath camp]. I know they've had three or four trial games but I haven't heard a thing."
Geraghty has retired twice in the past before opting to end his self-imposed exile, but a third return, although tempting, is unlikely due to family commitments.
"I'd have to see what the body is like after Christmas. Probably more than likely, I won't be involved. I told my wife last year that last year would be the last year and it's harder when the kids get older, though we'll wait and see," he told the Evening Herald.

Brilliant news. It will give the hill someone to slag as well as giving our defenders the easy opportunity of keeping a geriatric in their back pocket:D:D

Yes,because Dublin defenders do so well against older footballers, who can ever forget the excellent marking job they did on Brian Dooher this year.

Not suprised at all about GG considering a return, he still has plenty of talent and ability to be useful to any inter-county side. At the very least he would be a massive impact sub in big games. Defenders hate the sight of him. In the 15 years i have been closely watching Meath football i've yet so see him leave anything on the field. I know he isn't the most liked player outside Meath(even though he doesn't care,in fact i think he loves it) but even the most ardent Dublin football supporter cannot deny he's a class act on the pitch.

They would have plenty of practice from marking Jayo in training alright ;) Difference is Geraghty was actually class for many years not just for one or two games in the mid 90's :D

Funnily enough,I would like to see him return to the Meath panel. He has been a vital component in the Dublin-Meath rivalry and I think this rivalry needs somebody like Geraghty as a figure for the Dubs to give stick.

By the same token,Meath would probably single out Jayo or Ciaran Whelan as their target to give stick.I was never a fan of Geraghtys antics at times but 2008 was a year in which he probably felt more laid back about playing and shenanigans.Waving to the cheering Dublin fans on the terrace in Parnell Park after he completely messed up a chance is an example of this.

I have respect for his accomplishments.2 All Ireland medals,4 Leinster titles is a great resume. He also brought out the best in Dublin when they played because the rearguard had to be exta vigilant. His point against us by the endline in 2005 was one of my favourite scores to be ever scored against us.Loved his goal against Tyrone last year, was well taken.

So I hope he comes back.I don't think that game down in Limerick will do him any justice. He'd want to go out on a higher note I say.He has cited family commitments as a potential barrier to coming back but I think its fair to say that he will more than likely be back. He'll probably train for the Dublin game towards the latter stages of the league and come back fresh.

    That would be my inkling.

There is a rumour floating around that when the championship draw was made on the TV Brendan Murphy (current meath goalkeeper) sent GG a text sayin "You'll be back for the one and the reply that came back was: ;)
As i said just a rumour thats floating around meath fan circle's.

There is no disputing that GG is a hated man outside of the royal county but also no denying he strikes fear into any back line and if he was a dubs player god only knows the type of celebrity the man would be now.

Fair dues to to the man thats some determination. As stated if he retains any bit of form he will strike fear into any full back line. Still a knac............only messing of course!!
