Can you redeem game reward points after purchase?

i recently (2/3 days ago) my dad bought an xbox 360 bundle as my crimbo present worth 6 something euro in game reward points. however as my dad picked up the bundle, i wasnt able to redeem my points. do you know, if i'm able to go into a Game shop with the receipt and claim the rewards points any info appreciated

If you have the loyalty card it should be ok.
