Ok having registeered for the marathon I've been looking into a training plan for this. At the moment i'm not sure which plan to follow been looking at the Hal Higdon's Novice plans but to me they look to be a little easy( maybe i'm wrong).

I'm thinking of doing maybe the Marathon Training Schedule: Intermediate II looks to be about right, I'm planning on starting 14 week before the marathon and my weekly training at the moment would be at about week 6-7 of this plan. I will be doing 35 miles a week for the next 5 week before the marathon plan starts but this will include a good bit of speed work.

I'm coming of an ok base phase at the moment and my last 3-4 months training have gone well.

Also the Intermediate II only has 4 running days per week and 1 cross . I was thinking of 6 running and one cross session per week with one rest day ( I know one double day). The only 5 days ever 4th week.

    Any ideas welcome.

    Cheers.

I would say you'll be going into marathon training with a solid foundation and I think your right the novice would be a bit easier, would you consider the 55 mile pfitzinger & Douglas schedule ?
I found this great, granted I didn't follow it to the letter, but I will be this time around once xmas is over, if you don't have the book, I'll lend it to you, it's a great read and you'll know exactly why your doing each session.

I think entries have closed due to the problem with permit for now, waiting to see what happens there.
