I think the list of threads to do with the Dark Knight is too long whatever about the film itself.

Is it not a valid question?

    Why does this anger you?

A great movie, but I didn't like the use of the "mobile phone technology" bit. What made Batman Begins great was the departure from this and it's "back to basics" approach.

That or the bits with gordan and his family. not much point in that. We already know he's an upstanding chap.

Even though I loved that movie, the length didn't bother me.
But like others, the boat scene was crap. Almost reminded me of Spiderman.
I agree with the mobile phone tech stuff. It has taken a little away from 'real world' Batman.

No the cinema release was fine....the dvd however should be even longer. I would like to buy dvds with a cut of the movie that included every scene shot, no matter how little it contributed to the overall movie.

If anything he's too short. Christian Bale is 5'11 and Batman is supposed to be 6'2.

how dare you. Take your dark knight bashing elsewhere

I'd no real problem with the length.

The whole going to Hong Kong thing was all a bit pointless though and could have been left out easily without taking away from the story. Wouldn't take that out to make it shorter though.. just give more time to the Two Face plot instead.

Yeah I think it was a bit long, or rather had a number of fairly pointless diversions as have been pointed out. The film's story had such potency that it seems a shame to have diluted that power with the hong kong stuff, the boats perhaps, and the needless mobile phone stuff. More time could've been given to two face as well I thought. I have noticed a good few films in the past few years will cut out any sort of diversion at all though, and maybe this was a reaction to that in part, to try and paint a fuller picture of the whole batman world. Also I get the sense that the people involved are really trying to lay down the definitive batman in this series of movies, and to give as much attention to the nuances that might entail as possible. I wouldn't normally make this comparison of pop culture, but there are tones of a Shakespearean drama/epic to the two recent batman movies, which of necessity involves taking a lot of time to reach the climax. If viewed in this way I think the length of the film may become more of an asset.

Thought it felt a bit rushed. Another half hour could've been added.

I dont think its too long, its well paced. My only criticism now that i have seen it a couple of times is about the scene at the end with the
    2 boats
. It wasnt really necessary IMO as it was just emphasising what we already knew. It was a bit cheesy too.

Slightly off topic but dont want to start a new thread. Some big price variations in TDK in Dublin.

Only one more (very minor thing) that I didn't quite like about the Dark Knight.
Two Face has half his face burnt away, but the eye on the burnt side seems to function normally. But he'd need an eyelid to keep the eye moist and working properly! Nitpicking, I know...
