Now.... an item that cropped up in conversation at work...

Children of the 1980's, who remembers the staple beverage container of the packed school lunch, the Thermos Roughneck Flask?

A picture of your favourite cartoon character, mine was a red one with Woodstock, of Charlie Brown and Snoopy, some had Mickey Mouse or Scooby Doo, they were all over the place.

Occasionally they leaked, and you had to deal with the fact that your school books were tea-stained for the rest of the year. How you howled with envy when some kids new flask had the new pour spout, and would swig it into their mouth, whist you had to unscrew your cap and fill your lid which doubled as your mug.

Where could one get one.... hmmmmm. eBay draws blank...

I had one similar to the above. I've spotted a few on eBay (US).

went through a fair few of these over the years. a couple stick in my mind, a MR. T one and a STAR WARS ONE,they were as much a part of your school kit as books and pencils and jam sambos.:D

They were popular in the 70's too.The main problem was that if you brough a hot drink into school with you in a flask you were regarded as some sort of spa and would have the contents tipped over you when you went to take a drink. One of the reasons i had one of those textured plastic water bottles with the lid attached to the neck.

I had one with Darth Vader on it for years. It never leaked - the force was strong with this Thermos.

A lot of kids in my class, including yours truly, had matching plastic lunch cases. See...no tea-stained schoolbooks :D
