Did first exam yesterday, which went ok, in fact in went very well. However a query arose on one of the questions which could not be answered by anyone in the hall. The Invigilators tried to contact the lecturer but could not reach him. They suggested that the answer be given in a particular way in view of the phasing of the question.

    1. Are the exams proofed, before being issued.

    2) More importantly are lecturers not supposed to attend the exam centre in case a query arises?

    3) Are they supposed to be at least contactable in the event that a query does arise.

    1)Yes
    2)No
3)No idea - if theres a big enough problem then the question just doesn't get marked.

    Yes.

Yes, at least in some Schools, but only for the first half hour or so.
    3) Are they supposed to be at least contactable in the event that a query does arise.

Yes, they are. They leave their mobile numbers with invigilators.

I dont get how lecturers can get away with making mistakes in papers!?! Shouldnt that be stopped with proof checking.

I had an exam last year where they left out a whole page of the paper - it was kind of funny!
