I've off and downloaded a bunch of Public Domain movies onto the laptop and am after realising they use up a lot of space :x

So I want to burn them to a DVD in such a way that a) they can be played on a dvd player and b) they can easily be retreived as movie files for playback on the laptop (DVD spin-up uses far too much battery power for my liking) Is there a good way to do this or should I just skip the DVD-Player playback and just burn a bunch of archive disks?

Burn them as a dvd for playback on a dvd player then burn the compressed files to a dvd for archiving purposes. Dvds cost sweet fúck all nowadays.

Buy your self a DVD player that plays Divx, they are very inexpensive nowadays

That way you can burn them onto a regular DVD, it will play on your DVD player and can be easily dragged off onto your laptop
