Can you bring bikes, folding bikes on trains? I've seen a few folding bikes around town. Wondering what people experiences were.

Regarding trains and bikes in general give this thread a look over LINK. I presume the rules for folders are the same for standard bikes - that is they'll charge you the same, though I suspect you'll have less hassle finding a train that you'll be able to bring it on.

Folding bikes can be brought on trains for free (may need to be bagged - not sure). Also on LUAS and DART services.

    I stand corrected, cheers Morgan

I've never put my folder in a bag and I've never gotten any hassle over it.

But the Smoothhound doesn't fold. Does that mean you were breaking it down every time you got on a train or were you able to bring it on intact?

Even if you need to, it won't be hard to find a bag. All Dahons fit into the branded El Bolo (or is it El Bolso?) bad. Fold it up, bag it and it's over your shoulder and forgotten about (until you encounter a narrow doorway).

I would usually get away with just folding down the handlebars, lowering the seat and folding the pedals.

Got the Smooth Hound off a boards.ie user and the D7 off Chain Reaction Cycles.

Can you bring a bicycle on the train if it's actually a present?

How much wrapping is required to turn a bicycle into a present?

I have never bagged mine either, not an issue.

By the way, Bromptons fold. Dahons bend...
