Buy a copy of office and norton if you require them. Failing that there are various freeware alternatives you could try such as open office and avg.

Anywone know where i can get a copy of open office?
and can someone tell me a bit about it, can i only use it for a limited time? is it free to download?

also a free antivirus software something good because my pc is filled with viruses
what is the diffrence between norton360 and norton internet security?
    which is better?

Google open office download. It's 100% free and you can use it for as long as you like, no limitations. It is compatible with ms office file types.

For a freeware anti virus avg/avira/avast are all good.

Microsoft Office is made by Microsoft, costs a few hundred quid.

OpenOffice is made by Sun, is open source, free and is compatible with most microsoft office files.

It is renowened for being a resource hog but their have been versions of it that have been less so but I'd still avoid it.

I hate Norton: it's like a virus itself. So far, I have had it about four times, preinstalled on computers that I have bought. It's been a bother to get rid of it.

I have used AVG Free for about 4 years. I also use a bit of common sense when I am online. I have never had a virus problem.

Why. Their 2009 was recently awarded top marks http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2330018,00.asp
nevermind I got it for %60 off retail at a wholesaler but in comparison to older versions, 2009 takes ****all resources to function anymore and has become vastly more intelligent.

"Its been a bother to get rid of it"

Norton Automated Removal Tool - Its really quite painless.

    "it's like a virus itself"

I'd argue the same of AVG the way it only ever gave me issues on every build I placed it on (blocking internet access, slowing down web page loading, grinding my cousin's 256MB machine to a resounding halt after a clean reformat of the OS). As far as freeware goes I would trust Avast, so long as you turn the bloody annoying audio-notifications off.

    Avast 4.8 Home Edition

Just pair that with CCleaner, do your maintenance once a week or so and you should be grand

to be fair, heres the review of AVG 8.0 Free but you'll notice the contrast when you get done reading the user reviews.

Asking questions about stuff is cool, but learn to use Google to find the stuff in question, its a lot faster than asking on a message board.
