Media Center:Unsupported Region on tuner

    Hi all,
My Media Center PC has been reporting an "Unsupported Region" error with my tuner since last week (after I had to do a hard reboot following a lockup - not that that's anything unusual (gotta love Windows!)). Live TV says I've no tuner installed, so when I go to configure the TV signal, it tells me that my area is not supported by my hardware.

Now I know the hardware fairies didn't break in and install an NTSC tuner card while I was asleep (and I can capture video just fine with Windows Movie Maker, so the hardware itself is fine) so I've come to the conclusion that MCE has gotten its knickers in a twist, registry wise. I've downloaded and run a few "Reset MCE to first time use" type programs, but I still get the same problem. Googling hasn't really helped (basically I get a bunch of threads about Canadians complaining they cant use MCE) so I was wondering if anyone here had come across the same issue (and a fix!). I've disabled, uninstalled the card etc and still nothing.

I'm trying to avoid a complete re-install as I've installed a fair few games and apps and I'd really not want to have to do that all over again!

    Any thoughts, suggestions welcome!

have you tried doing a system restore to a point before the problem occurred? that should sort any registry probelms out.

Thanks for the responses, I've been banging my head with this the last few nights. I'm going to take the soft option and make the machine a dual-booter. I've just bought a 1.5TB SATA drive and I'm going to stick the version of Vista I got at the launch 2 years ago and see if I can get that to work (once I've patched it up to SP1). If so, I'll re-install my apps on the new drive one at a time and then just use vista from now on.

This will ieave me the option of trying to fix it later (if I'm feeling particularly masochistic!).

    Cheers
