First thing to do is contact the NARGC who will give you a list of clubs and contacts in your area.

Join one if you can to get insurance and a place to shoot. It's not easy and you'll need a lot of perseverance so be prepared for a long haul.
If you want to get out sooner, head out in your car, stop any farmers you see and ask for their permission. Ask them can you shoot rabbits, pigeons etc - don't mention pheasants...yet! Good luck!

Dont rely on the nargc too much been onto my local officer for the last 3 years, every year he gets me to write a c.v. letter with my previous shooting experience and never here anything back from him,
the only thing is to talk to people in work friends mention it to any one that you know that your trying to get out for a shot, hopefully some ones aunties uncles brothers sister in law will be a shooter,
get insurance aswell checkout irish farmers association for that e60 for the year.

dont get to disheartened keep hassleing people
