I’m a full time employee and for the last twelve months I’ve been actively seeking to move company and improve my prospects.
I’ve also upskiled and gotten an additional qualification which I don’t actually need for my current role.l
I’ve been sending out heaps of CV’s, applying en-spec and through various websites I’ve applied for the guts of 30 jobs yet I’ve only had one interview which went really, really well.
The problem is budgetary cuts in that firm, meant they couldn’t go ahead and recruit.
Needless to say I’ve become fairly disiloiusned by the fact that I’ve applied for so many jobs and zilch success.
I am not applying for jobs that I am not qualified for, in fact I’ve gone through the criteria for all the positions with one or two friends and in each instance I’ve been ‘qualified’ enough.
The responses I’ve received have typically been along the lines of ‘we had so many applicants, usually a multiple of 10 or 15 times the actual numbers of positions’…blah..blah
I’m applying for a mixture of private and public sector jobs, and I’m at the end of my tether at this stage!
The only obvious thing is the fact that I may not be presenting myself well enough in the CV, but I’ve been through it lots of times and come up with little.
Is there any sort of consultant I can approach for advice on this, regarding my CV because at this stage I’ve become so fed up I’m considering emigrating.
I am not happy in my job, and I'm wondering would the grass be greener in Australia..I've got qualifications, experience etc but I ain't getting the interviews..If anyone has any ideas they might PM me..
Is my experience, is what I've experienced pretty typical of whats happen to most people at the moment?

You need to make yourself stand out from the crowd. You obviously aren't doing this.

Send me a sample cover letter you use, and your CV, and I will comment on them. I see plenty of cover letters/CVs so I have a fair idea what works and what doesn't.

    I am <snip>

Btw, it is a good idea to ring the employer roughly two days after sending them your application to make sure they got it. Be really nice and non-pushy. This will put you up at the top of the list.
