Adding printer to wireless network

    Hi folks,

I currently have a printer connected to my pc with a USB cable.
I want to move the printer away from the computer.
I'm connected to the internet using a wireless network.
My question is, if I want to print wirelessly, what extra equipment do I need?
Just a usb dongle thingy or I also heard that I may need a print server.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks

You will either need a Network printer or a device that can function as a print server for USB devices.

What model of printer do you have?

Cuddlesworth is right. You might also want to think about getting a NAS drive (network attached storage). A lot of these come with in built print servers and will also allow you to store data on your network.

Yep, your going to need a USB print server for that. I would hold off on the NAS box if your not a heavy network user as its harder to install, troubleshoot and the benefits do not outway the cost.

Something like the below would be ideal if the printer was going to be placed near the modem/router so you could cable to it. Later you can add external drives to give it NAS functionality if you want.
