    ...and now loading http://fronthomepagez.com/security/vista/ instead.

Have done a search on it and it says that it's some kind of Zlob/Zlog?

Basically it changes your homepage and spies on what you access on the web but the problem is that my free AVG isn't picking it up on a scan.

Any suggestions on how to get rid of it?

    Thanks,

    K.

For a start, get rid of AVG, get NOD32
Scan with removed because i'm an idiot

With a good antivirus & firewall you should get this3098467302_05d9e51b17_o.jpg

That keeps popping up every few mins. Not sure if it's AVG doing that or not.

Only put AVG in the other day as I saw loads of people on here recommend it.

    So spybot is better?

And what should I do for internet security? AVG does all that doesn't it?

    Thanks.

EDIT, just downloaded Spybot there. It said it was free but then when I asked it to remove the threats it asked for $19.95.

Are you sure it was "Spybot Search&Destroy"? I downloaded something with a very similar name by accident before. It would tell me I had loads of viruses and that it would remove them if i paid for the full version.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune from http://www.atribune.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=25&Itemid=25 . Save it to your Desktop.

    Run ATF Cleaner
    • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
    • Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
    • Click the Empty Selected button.
    • Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
    • Shutdown/restart the computer.

Next Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.
    • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
    • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
    • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
    • Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
    • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
    • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
    • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be found here: C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt
    • Please post contents of that file in your next reply.

It's whatever one is in the link that was provided in link 2. Did the whole scan then it asked for payment to clean up.

    Great one Tallon :)

You linked to a rogue anti-spyware program

Ignore it kraggy and use MBAM like it has been suggested

In the future would be a good idea if anybody actually followed the steps in the sticky thread and only recommended stuff in it.

How do you know its not ? Have you done extensive testing with it ?

The program is a rogue anti-spyware program that lures users into buying it by claiming they are infected, as a result people waste their money on it
It said it was free but then when I asked it to remove the threats it asked for $19.95.
A lot of people fall for that

I didn't fall for it. Was expecting it to be free since it was linked by a fellow boardsie.

Anyway, used the malware thing provided and it seems to have done the trick.

Gonna get rid of AVG, not happy with it. Is is simply a case of going to control panel and uninstalling?

    Thanks again,

    K.
