Monday Millions - only 1 Jackpot won in 11 draws

There was a winner in the 1st Draw but unfortunately  the last 10 draws have had no Jackpot winner.
I'm sick of Irish Lottery with the BIG jackpot rollovers a couple of times a year, and their QuickPicks with not so random number selection.

I will be sticking to Euromillions in future.

Yeah, is it me or does it seem there's something strange about this game? I'm no expert in statistical analysis, so maybe some math buff can clue us in...

Anyway, the game started 29 Sept 08, and to date, there has only been 2 winners of the jackpot! Two!? The next prize of €10k is won on average by only 1 person, and the next one of €500 by a measly 20 people (lotto.ie).

    :P

Lotto is simply a state tax on the mathematically challenged.

To be fair, the amount of people who play is probably a quarter of the population which is 1,165,000. To get even 4 numbers in the Monday Million is 1,974,024/1. So you're not going to get many winners. To get 5 numbers it is 69,090,840/1 which is even worse. :D imagine six!

Billions is more of a buzz word than Millions in the last year. Hummm, wonder why ? Anglo Irish spring to mind, somebody would want to tell them to start doing the EuroMillions.

It's the lamest argument you can put forward.

"If you do the lotto you're mentally challanged in some way"

If I do the lotto it's because I want to do the fcuking lotto.

People are well aware of the chances, but there's plenty of winners who think contrary to ye.

As I said, "Don't hand over your money all in one go now :pac:"

it's a long comitment, it takes years ;)

    • 5 plus the bonus: 1,392,317 / 1
    • 5 numbers: 34,807 / 1
    • 4 plus the bonus: 14,274 / 1
    (take your pick)

    not.

Why is that any less likely to win than any other combination of numbers?

I know the chances of winner the lotto are **** all. I play the euro millions (generally when it rolls over). Id rather have a **** all chance of winning something then no chance.

But hey that me and I live in hope that Ill be stinking rich some day!

You'd be better off investing in Anglo Irish than throwing your money away on the lotto . . . .:pac:

That "all or nothing" game must be one heck of a money spinner for the lottery.

Where did you get that from? I just counted 3 in the last few months.

Some conspiracy theorists think that they deliberately don't pick out the quickpick numbers or something. Conspiracy theories forum prob has something on it. I dont believe it but then i don't do the lotto . . .
