Modchip for a PS3???

    Hi guys, are there fully working modchips available for the PS3 that will play backups/US games? Has anyone used them? If so, are they reliable?

    Games are region free so you dont have to worry about where you buy your games,no such "chip" exists to play backups afaik

    Just buy your games. Excuses like 'NTSC games' and 'Homebrew' won't hold up since there aren't any and it's region free.

    Not at all mate, would just like to use the unlocked functionality of the console;)

    What unlocked functionality would that be? Games are region free.

    Going to homebrew my psp too. Although homebrew on psp,would that mess up the link with the ps3?

    Not really. Apparently video playback is crippled under linux as they've disable access to the video card in linux. It's only really good if you plan on using the ps3 for internet access as the built in web browser is rubbish.

    Thats true,i don't like the psp or ps3 browsers.
    If linux messes up stuff,i wouldn't install it. But its always nice to have extra things on a machine.

    Linux on a Ps3 doesn't interfere what so ever with the Ps3 game OS
