The £20,000 'Respect our city' scheme is designed to reduce anti-social behaviour such as swearing, spitting, litter dropping and dog fouling.
Ok, the other three are fair enough, but to stifle language is beyond ridiculous.

Any cop bringing someone to court for that will be laughed out of the place.

"But your honour, he said fúck. That could lead to the collapse of society."

    +1

Not the only one. Have not been there in a while but it's getting kind of weird with all these social order laws.

    Another Example

Stuff that - I'd never be able to walk 50 feet in that place then without beaking the law!

Next they will be fining you for indecent language in your text & email messages, the UK authorities can already access these under "anti terrorism" measures

Where in the article does it say there's zero tolerance against swearing? Or that you'll get fined for swearing?

It doesn't. It doesn't mention CCTV cameras with microphones being used either. All it says is that the police can give out fines up to £80 for anti-social behaviour which could include swearing but probably wouldn't if that was all that was involved. Run_to_da_hills just added the rest to make it seem scarier.

It's nothing groundbreaking or overly oppressive.

Illegal in Orange County in the US since a few years.

    Hong Kong
"Hong Kong- A campaign has been launched in Hong Kong to outlaw swearing in public and to make rude references to people's mothers a criminal offence, a news report said Wednesday. Kong Fung-yi, a district councillor in Hong Kong's Tuen Mun area, said she hopes to have a law introduced that will specifically outlaw swearing directed at mothers or the private parts of mothers, the South China Morning Post reported.

She said she eventually hopes to have legislation introduced to ban swearing in public altogether and to make it punishable by fines."

    Russia
"Russia's parliament gave final approval on Wednesday to a law banning the use of foreign or offensive words, which have been used by President Vladimir Putin and other politicians to spice up public addresses.

The State Duma lower house overwhelmingly approved a bill entrenching Russian as the "state language" and barring "offensive", "obscene" and "vulgar" words. Foreign words are also outlawed when Russian-language equivalents exist."

UK cops can already arrest you for being foul mouthed depending on the context in which you're swearing.

    Much ado about nothing.

RTDH makes no distinction between the governments of the world. They are all just subsidiaries of the NWO so it's all the one anyway.

No, no, there's a reference in there as to how well it would go down in Dublin just to allude to it being brought in here without any evidence.

They'll be having "No Stabbing Allowed" signs next, another breach of civil liberty.

No different to swearing being banned here.

It is a tad. Just a tad.

Boards is an online community provided by a private company. My ability to post here is not guaranteed by law, hence my inability to say certain thing's as that ability is provided by boards.ie and it is up to them what they want/do not want said here.

Saying something whilst walking down the street has nothing to do with anyone outside of whomever I am speaking to. My ability to speak whilst walking down the street is a right I have and should not be filtered in any way.
