Josh Lewsey has retired from English national team but still hopes to play for Lions. Great player who was messed around a lot by English management I think. Loved how hard he hit, felt he was very underrated, even as a winger when he played there.

I remember a tackle he put in on Mat Rogers in Australia in, IIRC, Summer 2003. Textbook timing, power & technique. The play had to be halted while Rogers tried to remember how to walk.

Also, one of the last of current players who had a life before being a full-time professional.

Also also, sometimes too painfully honest for his own good.

Lewsey was def under-rated and messed around by Eng management. He put in more effort than most Eng players combined.

Also, remember the try saving tackle on Jean De Villiers during 06 AI.

Jamie Noon is the first choice 13 :D and a player of Lewsey's class cant make the squad. Its hardly a wonder England are so dire.

Quality player always gave a 100% when playing and i meant alot to him to represent his country, shame for him to retire from international rugby as England could use his experience.

I think Lewsey can offer more on fullback especially defensively and attacking. He also has a good boot on a picked day.

Excellent player, ran excellent lines from deep. Surprised that he's been overlooked at National level

I agree 15 is his best position but he's still a good enough centre for international level.

yeah ditto. A beast of a defender and very compotent in attack. Lets hope Wasps don't get much better with him playing week in week out. Well until the end of this years group stages anyway...:D

Would he have been competing with Jason Robinson for the 15 jersey for a lot of his career?
