    Stats over the percentage of bags lost by carrier by AEA, Association of European Airlines for summer 08.

    British Midlands at the top lost during April - October aprox 2,5% of the passengers' bags, about 80.000 bags.

    BMI: 2,45%
    KLM: 2,01%
    TAP Portugal: 1,99%
    Alitalia: 1,96%
    British Airways: 1,89%
    Air France: 1,69%
    Air One: 1,41%
    Iberia: 1,40%
    Lufthansa: 1,27%
    LOT: 1,23%
    Luxair: 1,19%

    I followed the link out of curiosity, because the Irish carriers were not included. It seems that they were not part of the study.

    The stats are actually for delayed baggage. The report says "On average 85% of the
    delayed bags are traced and delivered to the passenger within 48 hrs".
