    Hello,

I don't frequent this forum much, but do know some of the places mentioned here, especially around Limerick. Does anyone know the castle mentioned in my thread title, and have you ever had any strange experiences there?
I've heard the story about the candle in the window etc, and used to spend some time up there as a young fella. It was always peaceful and quiet up there, as it's well away from the road and houses. You can get away from it all for a few hours if you wish. I've never been up there on my own, and wouldn't ever go up there on my own. I don't really know why...
I know U2 made a video years ago up there, and it's on the inside cover of one of their early albums (local claim to fame!), but I'd be interested to find out if anyone has had any paranormal experiences up there...

Hmm... where is this place... I feel ashamed, I'm from limerick & have never heard of this place.

Actually you're right there are a few good spots in Limerick..ever been to Castleoliver? It's all redeveloped now I think but when it was run down I went up there one night & OMG, the energy in the place was hopping

It's out in Clarina / Ballybrown. If you know where Ballybrown church is, you can see it from there. It's got some fantastic views out the Shannon estuary and back west limerick from it, and of the city as well...

yeah AI, I saw the site. Really nice shots on it..
I hear stories about Curraghchase house all the time, but I've never heard anything about Carrigogunnel apart from the tale of the witch and the candle, but I'm originally from near Carrig, and have not heard any strange stories. Saying that, I never really asked anyone...

haha Sabotage no not my dog! he was a very friendly mutt though, followed me all round Carrigogunnel and back down to the road

What's the story on Curraghchase? Is that the one about the haunted lake there? If you're up for a bit of adventure I'd recommend camping at the camp site in the forest there right next to Curraghchase house and going for a wander around close to the house after dark.

Yep very little info on Carrig! No recent stories and nothing much even recorded on the history of the ruin up there - seems to be part of the old castle and part some kind of estate house? Quite a few old walls of outbuildings back there in the undergrowth.

There's a few other gems around Limerick but I'm not telling till I get round them myself ;)

And cheers for the compliments on the website guys.
More updates coming shortly - just had some really amazing explores out in Louth and Co.Cork recently.
Had a journalist out with me on a recent mission so watch out for AI in the main stream media next year.

I camped out years ago during the summer in Curraghchase. Freaky bloody place at night let me tell you....

There's an old graveyard and church down the road from Carrigogunnel too. I've never heard any stories from there either...

There used to be a big house down in Clarina that was demolished years ago, and I've not heard anything about there either...:(

aha...got ya...didn't know the name of the place

    Fantastic site btw

    Hey seachto7

Yep camping out there in the forest at Curraghchase is great. No sign of the ghost of the lake when I was there though! Shame it's not possible to go actually inside the Currag house ruin anymore - unless you do the 10 metre climb over the outer wall of the house.

I noticed that old graveyard and church down the road from Carrig but I didn't stop. Is it worth taking a look in there?

it's not bad. They cleaned up the graveyard and church over the last few years. I can't find any current pics of it online, as the name of the place escapes me! Kileedy or something like that...

I think the name of the place is Kilmeedy but am not 100% sure on that.

You guys have to check out the old Abbey in Kilmallock....no issue with going right into the ruins(as far as I remember) but wow

My team, Killarney Paranormal Society investigated Carrigogunnel back on October / Nov 2009. We didn't have much activity to be very honest, the scariest part of the night was me slipping down the hill on the way down! :D
