    Hi all,

I have just moved in a new appartment, I try to set up my TV and I need your help.

I have a NTL isolator box on my wall, I did not have subscribe to NTL or any other Internet provider for the moment.
There is not COAX plug in my appartment, just F plug under this isolator box. Could you please tell me what I should do to receive the "normal" channels? Should I buy a F Plug / Coax Plus cable and connect directly my TV on this isolator box?

    Thanks for your help.

Sure you cun a clothes hanger from the NTL to the TV if you want, it will still work.

Cust get a normal F to Coax cable and connect it to the TV, then do an auto scan - sorted.

Just to get this clear, there is no "free" channels on NTL. All the channels on the NTL are subscription only. Connecting it directly to your TV will not give you any channels, you need NTL decoder and valid subscription

Yes I understand that, but I can watch RTE1, RTE2, TG4 and the other "normal" channels, right?

You need a standalone "rabbit's ears" aerial. You can't use the box on the wall without a subscription.

Just to let you know, I bought a F Plug / Coax Plug cable and my TV is connected directly on the box, without "rabbit's ears" aerial... I have 17 "free" channels, I guess we have the cable in my building.

Those channels are not "free". Probbubly an oversight by your building managment company. But they may not be there forever unless you "pay" for them.

Enjoy your "free" channels while they last :D

This happened to my brother before and he had the "free" channels the whole time that he lived in the appartment (about 2 years), so you could be lucky.

Yeah I came back home last night, and the "free" channel were not there anymore... -:( it was quick... But there is something I do not understand, I should have at least RTE1, RTE2, TG4, right? But I do not have anything through the F plug under the isolator box. I am obliged to use rabbit's ears aerial...

No, as i said on NTL/Chorus there is no free TV, all channels are subscription only. You have to have valid subscription to whatever is their miminum in order to get Irish channels.

looks like you need "rabbit ears" after all! or else pay for subscription.

I'm afraid Fat Fingers is right no such thing as "free" RTE on NTL/Chorus.
only way to get "free" RTE is from an ariel.
