    Hey,

I'm running MS Word 2007 (Home and Student) on HP Compaq, Vista. I tried to insert an equation but it won't let me.....the equation button is grey/hollowed out and won't let me click on it.

Anyone know why this could be?

    Thanks!

Does it say Compatibility Mode at the top? If you save it as .doc for Word 2003 or earlier, Word 2007 opens it in compatibility mode which won't allow you to insert equations afaik. You can convert it to the 2007 .docx by clicking the Office button, then Convert.
