And when Oliver Postgates goes to sleep...the mice on the organ go to sleep.
I grew up with all of his stuff. Formative, gentle, funny and beautiful work.

I've some of it on vhs and play it for my daughter now.

My childhood was all about this too.

The most beautiful; the most magical, saggy old cloth cat in the whole wide world.

When my boy is old enough, I can't wait to show him stuff like Bagpuss.

Ivor the Engine was my era.

Oliver Postgate had the most wonderful treacle and marmalade voice.

'The Clangers' is one of my earliest memories of children's programmes. That and 'Pipkins', 'Romper room' and 'Andy Pandy'. I remember not knowing they were on the moon,I didn't know a fcuk what it was. I thought they were living on a dustbin lid. Can't imagine what i was thinking of.

Very sad loss. I introduced my son to the joys of The Clangers, Ivor The Engine and Bagpuss this summer. He loves them just like I did when I was a child.

RIP Mr Postgate. The magic will live on.

Even Bagpuss himself, once he was asleep, was just a saggy old cloth cat.
Baggy, and a bit loose at the seams.
    But Emily loved him
