The verb always goes in the second position in a Hauptsatz and at the end of the sentence in a Nebensatz.

eg. Ich bin am Wochenende nicht ausgegangen, weil ich krank war.

With a Modalverb (müssen, dürfen, können, mögen, wollen, sollen), the modal verb goes in the second position and the other verb goes at the end.

    eg. Ich muss morgen lernen.

As for the rest of the words in a sentence, they generally follow the order of TMP ie. time, manner, place.

That's just a basic overview. If you have any specific questions, post them up here and I'll try to answer them for you.:)
