Just to be clear on 'Ball Hops'..

Ball Hops are barrack room rumours, typically they might start out as a joke to wind someone up, ie...

"Did you hear the Sgt.Major died of a massive heart attack" :) now everyone might think its funny and see it as such, but someone thinks its real and in a very short space of time the original joke has taken on a life of its own and the BALL starts to HOP..

Within no time the Sgt.Majors wife starts planning how best to spend his CAFNBO and GANBO :p

Or we post something here which we over heard in the bks, it might be the truth or not and it might all seem very innocent to us (even if its not an operational matter), relate the story here, and like the ball hop it takes on a life of its own and someone run's out of here with it.

Anyone unclear or would like to make it clearer (your more than welcome)..

    Discuss?.

Ok that makes sense like that story I heard about a RDF section wiping out a PDF platoon on tactics.

Ok so that explains all the chat about RDF going overseas!!

Ball hop. So nothing in it. Like a match just "a hop of a ball in it". Every day is a school day;)

See, they're ball hops and I know its wide there's no hard and fast rules. But a little cop on is all thats needed.

Someone posted what he must have known was vastly exaggerated ball hops earlier, which although the vast majority of members would know its shoit talk people reading without the same insight could have taken the guys posts as serious and ran with it, they'd have got mileage too!.

Just a little cop on, and to be honest I'd have never paid much heed to the posts myself, because I hear the same shoit talk and ignore it, but when MiniD raised the issue of a journo reading it, that got my guard up to the dangers of it.

Some ball-hops suffered by one particular gunner in my unit - he was told (by another unit) that all he needed to do to get his stripes was volunteer for lots of kitchen duties and then sign a form. He was also asked had he ever fired the SINCGAR. When he said he'd be learning it in a few weeks, they convinced him it fired bricks!

Dead right. You see common sence is a great thing just its sence thats not very common. A good ball hop for journalists should be posted just to see if it is carried.

Now the new DPM skirt for the lads in Chad is a great idea.;) I think the air circulating will help men and women to stay cool!!;);)
