The Buzzer that normally goes off if I leave my lights on and get out of the car has stopped working. This has resulted in one dead battery.
I checked the Fuse Index and could not find a fuse for it.

    Car is a 02 Avensis

    Any ideas?

I got something like this for my gf's VW mkiv golf
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-Lights-On-Indicator-Car-Van-Buzzer_W0QQitemZ280292813920QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item280292813920&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1301|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318

Open the fuse box and connect it to the rear window defroster and the parking light fuse, that simple. works a treat!!

Is your interior light working when you open the driver's door??

Yes. Interior Light Comes on alright when I open the door.
Does anybody know where the actual buzzer is located?

Not 100% sure, but AFAIK it was behind the dash where the mirror contols are on older cars

Take out the door switch on the drivers door and check the contacts.

The spring had broken in my switch.

Buy another car. Anything but an avensis.
Just think, if you had a proper car, you might enjoy the odd drive instead of sitting in a car with a dash made from old wheelie bins.

    Have a MIV Golf too;)
The Avensis has more rubbish thrown in it like a Wheelie Bin

Just connect red wire to the parking light fuse and black wire to rear heated window fuse, in the main fuse board. buzz buzz.
Its the easiest way if the door switch isnt broken/stuck, did you try pushing/pulling out the car door switch and see does buzzer work then??
and maybe take off the rubber seal and spray some WD40 on it, On an Almera I had it was sticking and after a spray of WD40 no problems.

    I like Wheelie Bins :-)

At least he won't be stuck at the side of the road looking at a work of art dash while waiting for a tow truck! :pac:

I have gone without fixing this but left the lights on the last day and the battery went flat :( so I said I would troubleshoot it as much as I could.
At this stage I think there is a short somewhere. If I have te radio on and the light on and then turn off the ignition and remove the keys; the radio stays on???? Once I turn off the lights the radio goes off

I replaced a 7.5A Dome fuse in the engine fuse compartment and thought I heard the buzzer come on for half a second. This Dome Fuse appears to cause a lot of small issues (so they say on the net)

If I could physically locate the buzzer I could check that but don't know where it is.

At this stage I have decided to bring it to my mechanic in 3 weeks time to get sorted. Any ideas before I go to him would be much appreciated.

I said I would have one last go the night before bringing it for a service. I diconnected the Nokia Handsfree Kit that has been in the car for 3 years and everything worked as it should. Despite the Handsfree Kit working fine for phone calls the actual nokia box where everything plugs into was obviously faulty (swapped it with a mates to confirm). Chucked the hands free kit in the bin.
