    Hi guys,
sorry if i go on a bit......

my issue is this.... at the minute im working full time and studying beauty at night, i really like beauty, hair etc.. but am all too aware of how difficult it will be for me to get a job in a salon once my night course is finished ( final exams in may i think??).

My job is fine but its just not what i want to do.... (i sell sky tv)
My problem is that i dont know what to do after i finish my beauty course... do i do another course related to beauty ie. nails or massage? My parents would love to see me head off to college next year but i have no real interest in this option (to be honest i like going to work every day and gettin my wages at the end of the week and dont want to give that up)... Or maybe i should try to get into hairdressing? this was suggested by a friend and seems to me like a good idea...

any opinons or advice would be greatly appreciated....:o

Is it that hard to get a job in a salon?

Always, always, take up a career because it's what YOU want to do or you'll only plod along.

Well you'll always have a trade if you study anything like this but my God avoid it like the plague if you don't want to do it!

Unless you own your own salon the pay makes it more like a vocation tbh!

You don't say how old you are, that would help....

You don't need to go to college to get an education.

You could do a part time degree or distant learning. I plan on starting an open university degree next year, it means I can continue to work and study in my own time.

Hey guys thanks for the replys... i really like the beauty course and its what i want to work in (even tho the wages are useless!) so think im gonna do a few add on courses like gel and acrylic nails to increase my employability in these tough times :pac:.... no point in going to college and studying something i have no interest whatsoever in...

    Thanks for the advice :D

Gel and acrylic would be useful but people seem to be avoiding these more in this day and age...both cost and health seem to be the main factors.

Massage is a very useful course to have under your belt, as is anything to do with laser hair removal and the full range of waxing.
