Anyone know the list of freeview channels in Ireland, I currently receive 27 stations, with the 8 Irish and 19 others, mainly UK Radio stations.

You say you are receiving 8 Irish channels?? on Freeview??? If so, then you are not watching the UK Freeview. Can you expand on your posting?

Perhaps 4 tv and 4 radio?

Only guessing but I imagine it's the tv and radio channels from the Irish DTT trial showing up alongside a couple of MUXs from UK Freeview.

It's hardly surprising that Irish DTT, the 'service with no name', is getting lumped under the name freeview by the general public.

Hi, I have a satelite dish and a freeview box called "Technomate". Cant remember the price but it was quite cheap about 4 years ago. I am in the Midland region in Ireland. When I auto tune my freeview box I receive approx 4000 channels and 100s of radio stations. However when I sort them and get rid of the crap channels I have approx 20 decent channels. See List below. These are all received via satellite "28.2E ASTRA2/Eurobird". Hope this is helpful.

If Anyone cn tell me why I am unable to view the Irish stations (RTE1, NET2, TV3, TG4) via freeview I would appreciate that. These appear blocked out!!!

    Here is a list: BBC1-4, ITV1-4, ITV1+1-4+1 (1hour lapse), Channel 4, More4, E4, Channel 4 +1, More4+1, E4+1, Five, Men and Motors, Film4, Film4+1, CNN, Sky News, and a few decent music channels like Scuzz, Flaunt.

Freeview has never been available by a technomate im sure. Technomate only make Satellite receivers. Freeview is not available with a satellite dish, only via an aerial in the UK or UK spill over areas.

What you have is a Free to air satellite box connected to a satellite dish aimed at Astra 2 where the UK Freesat/Free to air channels are broadcast.

Irish stations never have and possibly will never be available free to air on satellite. You need a sky subscription to watch the 4 Irish channels via astra 2 satellite.

There are Irish DTT tests in mpeg 4 available via a uhf aerial within the southern part of the Island of Ireland

People living along the east coast can receive uk freeview channels with a freeview receiver and suitable ariel, loads of people still have these ariels up from the days of analogue transmissions that they could pick up as overspill from UK.The UK freeview is mpeg2 and Irish DTT is mpeg4 so a UK receiver won't pick up Irish DTT.

Actually the UK uses two systems: T1 and T2. T1 is the older MPEG2 system and T2 is the MPEG4 DVB-T2 system for HD which is backwards compatible with MPEG4 DVB-T1 as used in Ireland and France. The cheapest T2 HD zapper box is now £99. There are also a large number of T2 Tvs going on sale now eg from Tesco in the UK but you will need to be careful until Saorview officially starts and is a stable software platform.

Can the update list of channels be downloaded from somewhere?

I have a Ferguson Ariva 252, I'd like to get the latest channel list automatically.
