Wii Virtual Console Question

    Hi All,

I have never used a Wii before and I was wondering if it is possible to download virtual console games from the nintendo site,
put them onto a SD card and run them from the Wii or do I need to do all this through the Wii?

I'm thinking of getting a few of these games for my brother for Christmas
(how cool would it be to have some of the greatest games ever on a SD card) but he lives in Bally-go-backwards and as a result doesn't have a broadband connection.

Unfortunately you can't. You can 'gift' buy virtual console games but the other person needs an internet connection to download them.

Ah feck, no sooner had I posted that that Captain Wikipedia came to the rescue http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_console

So it seems that the only way I can give my brother a gift of a few games is to send them via his friends code which I can't do as I don't have a Wii myself and I don't know his Friends Code.

Back to the drawing board I guess.

If you get a loan of his wii for a little while you can download them them for him. He doesn't need broadband to play them

You could look into getting a retro compilation disc -- even one for GC with a 'Cube controller.
    Works out much cheaper, too.

    Or emulate ;)
