which is terrible news for local bands, where is left for Irish videos to be shown?

    "Dear Friends,

It is with great regret and a pain in my heart that I break the news today that as and from the 31st December 2008, Nightshift is to be taken off air.

Channel 6 was bought over by TV3 a few months ago and the new owners have made the decision to remove Nightshift from next year's schedule.

The very last show will air from 10pm – 1am on New Years Eve.

On a personal level, may I say that Michelle and I are completely bewildered, and absolutely gutted by this decision. We both care passionately about the show and are finding this very hard to swallow. This year alone we made over 400 shows together and loved every minute of it. We are so sad the show will be no more.

Please stay in touch; my personal details are below.
    Sincerely,
    Elton

    Elton Mullally
    Producer
    Night Shift
    Channel 6 "

TV3 are b@st@rds for this. I'm sickened, it's not like the post 12 o clock slot is going to be prime time television and something they can use to boost rating by throwing in something else. I'm very disappointed to see this show go, and Michelle to boot. She is stunning.

I'm going to mail them a complaint. Is there an online petition that can be set up?

Always happens. Sure didn't No Disco get canned too and it was only once a week on RTE.

I tells ya - Channel 6 are really gonna lose out on the late night stoner crowd now.

    And the saturday/Sunday hungover crowd

Yes because the late night stoner market has been so lucrative for advertisers in the past.:pac:

My head agrees that Channel 6 requires a complete overhaul but this is a bad place to start. I always thought that Night Shift was made with real passion and gave us something we couldnt get anywhere else. A real shame.

bad news - somewhat hard to understand. its presumably fairly cheap to make, and brings in a particularly niche audience. can't see that running repeats of CSI or whatever will make more money for them...

Exactly, unlike their Take 6 film show. Have ever seen more agreeably bunch of 'yes men' (or man and woman) in you life?
Night Shift is a music show on par with it's music info as No Disco, but granted doesn't get as out there as No Disco did, no harm to me though.

I dont get channel six, so i cant say that i have ever seen the show, but from the sounds of things, its not a good thing that it is being taken off the air.

WTF?! How on earth can they do this- it's the only thing worth watching on Channel 6 and it's the only programme that distinguishes it from every other sh*te channel that just show repeats of friends etc.

They ran two shows a day. One in the afternoon and one in the evening. Although the afternoon one probably wasn't called 'Nightshift'. Maybe 'Dayshift' or something. Who knows - I have a job so don't get to watch TV in the daytime.

Sucks. Michelle Doherty was the hottest woman on TV. :(

Seems like the No Disco situation all over again, even tho No Disco was probably a bit more under ground...If anything should go it's that prick off the pop show...

Hopefully RTE might do something about it, there defo is a market out there for it...

I always thought thought there was something oddly depressing about that show that I could never quite put my finger on...
