Does Remote record work here? I tried to sign up for it through my sky+ box but it doesn't seem to appear on the Interactive menu under sky products.

Anyone got this set up OK?

I got mine set up, to use remote record from the Sky.com website. I set it up by logging on to the sky.com site from my PC and going through the various steps (need to know your viewing card number) Has worked for me before. Had problems lately though, saying certain channels I tried to record were not part of my subscription package (Sky 1 for instance..)

I could never get this to work as I think the modem in my Sky box does not work. Bit of a pisser as it would be handy.

I set it up and tried to record a show. I got a text back saying the channel name wasn't recognised. I had picked the E channel because it would be hard to get wrong

That was the last time I tried it.

I use Sky Anytime application on my mobile... it very handy, you can look at your Sky TV Guide exactly like it is on TV and record.. only thing is you need to connect using ISP mobile connection..

I have spent this morning trying to set up Remote Record.
Here is the guide from Sky:

Before you can start using Remote Record, you'll need:

    • a Sky+ or Sky+HD box and subscription
    • a My Sky account
    • to activate Remote Record on your set top box

Just follow the simple steps below:

    1. Get a My Sky account
First, you'll need a My Sky account and to register on Sky Active. If you already have a My Sky account, go straight to Step 2. If not, then register here.

N.B. A My Sky account is required to Remote Record from your PC or via Sky Anytime Mobile. You do not need a My Sky account if you only want to Remote Record using text messages. See How to Remote Record for more details.

    2. Activate Remote Record on your set top box
    • Press the Interactive button on your Sky+ remote control and press '1' for Sky Active.
Choose Sky Products from the menu, then select Remote Record.
    • Select Register My Sky Users - this directs you to a page advising that you are about to be connected to a freephone number. Press Select if you are happy to do so.
    • Using your Sky remote control, enter your mobile phone number and press Select.
You will now see the confirmation screen

    3. You're ready to go!
You can now set your Sky+ or Sky+HD box to record programmes from wherever you are via mobile or on sky.com.

Find out more about how to use Remote Record.
But if you still have questions, our FAQ is here to help.

    Please Note:
Sky+ or Sky+HD subscription required. You must obtain the consent of the Sky+ subscriber before activation. Recording requests must be made at least 30 minutes before start of programme. SMS request confirmation message costs 25p (€0.50), Mobile network and internet service provider charges apply. Subject to activation and Terms & Conditions.

The following option does not appear on my Sky Active menu:

Choose Sky Products from the menu, then select Remote Record

Anyone else manage to set it up lately?

    Ok,

After more searching, I finally managed to get there:

In Sky Active choose Sky Products.
Then All Products followed by Sky+ (3rd choice down)
    Then press Yellow button.

Your one on the phone seemed uninterested before when I was telling her the setup guide on the website (and the one she was reading out to me) was wrong. 30 mins later (and 3 staff members) I found it myself and let them know :D

Does the SKY+ box need to be connected to to a landline for Remote Record to work?

Only to set it up initially. Once setup, you can plug out the phone line. Remote record requests are sent out "over the air".

Got rid of conventional landline with BT a couple of weeks ago. I have my landline with UPC now, so I guess I won't be able to do it now. I should have set it up before I got rid of it:(
