    Hi Dubliner,

Road works on the way to Montrath going to Tipperary is for the new bypass motorway suppose to be completed by the end of 2010. It will save time on route to Limerick while cutting the traffic volumes from the towns on route, Mountrath can be full of traffic at peak times.

Have you just moved down im originally from Dublin also.

    Regards
    Chris

For some reason not explained, the M7/M8 section between Portlaoise and Borris In Ossory/Culahill is taking a long, long time to build.

Progress on this section, unlike the other recent sections of motorway recently opened, is disappointingly slow.:(

It sure is slow - the completion can't come quick enough! The trucks doing the run between Mountrath and Abbeyleix (and on to the quarry in Spink) are an absolute curse. Parts of the road is in bits and the car is absolutely filthy the whole time. The cops were stopping cars outside Borris-in-Ossory recently checking for registration plates that were illegible due to muck and dirt! Why don't they deal with root of the problem first - the filthy roads caused by the motorway contractors. <minor rant over :p>

When finished it will be a big loss on Mountrath and Borris in Ossary
Were will it come out then if its by passing them ??

I presume it will join onto the present motorway bypassing Port Laoise.
As for the other side - that will join onto the Nenagh bypass that is currently being upgraded to a dual carriageway.

Cheers for that.Missus is from Templemore so we'd usually turn off at Roscrea.

Cons: Less money for the local businesses by passing trade in Mountrath & Borris

Pros: Less traffic which is needed Mountrath is a bottle neck at peak times

'passing trade' from these vechiles is grossly over valued... many of these cars do not stop in these towns unless absolutely necessary...

towns like monasterevan and kildare are 100% better off since being bypassed
