I was at a wedding in teh Ardilaun about 3 years ago and the food was the best I have ever had at a wedding. Staff were great. Decor was just so so.

    Hey Butty,

Congrats on the engagement. I have shot about 20 weddings at the Ardilaun this year and I love the location.

The staff there are fantastic, food is good and its a great location too (especially if you want beach shots too).

If you want any other location ideas, then PM and I can help you with some suggestions.

    Good luck!! :D

Went to a wedding there recently, and it was nice. Food was ok, not the greatest, but ok. Residents bar stayed open for a long time, though. ;-)

Check out the Westwood as well - also went to a wedding there recently, and the food was great, staff really nice - good craic altogether!

I've heard thats a really nice place. A friend of mine booked it recently. If your looking for a band check out the vendettas. www.the-vendettas.com, the same friend is booking them and i have them booked myself for next year.

Only issue I have with them is they usually have more than one wedding going on at the same time which means they have a member of staff following you around like hot cakes to ensure the two lots don't see each other.

From a photography stand point, if the weather is bad, which generally it is, there are very few locations to take formals. Photographers have to use the reception area which isn't ideal. If the weather is good then you have the beach outside (which gets some great stuff), the gardens or the patio.

    Hope that helps??

    Couldn't agree more!!

Only drawback is you have to take over the whole place and catering isnt included. You are limited to guest quantities which makes it for a more intimate setting.

The Ardilaun Hotel and the Galway Bay Hotel are considered the wedding venues of choice in Galway. Check with them on cost etc and I am sure at this stage you can strike a good deal with them considering the sky is falling down (economically). The good thing about these hotels is their proximity to Salthill beach and prom. You will be able to get some good pictures of your wedding day without having to go across town to some far off location.

THanks for that,Iv actually booked the Galway and happy with my decision. The Ardilaun was quiet expensive nd the reports of their food is not hectic.

maybe try Cloonacaneen Castle (i think thats how you spell it!) At a wedding there recently. Stunning surroundings for photographs. Dont believe it was that expensive either. It is a bit small though! You could always try the G Hotel if your budget stretches that far!
