I'd put up a poll but I'm not totally sure what PPVs were on Sky Box Office but which did you pay for ?

Not a single one. Friend of mine got Mania, so I watched with him, and that was the only one I would have paid for this year - maybe the Rumble as well. Its been an utterly forgettable year for WWE.

I got Mania, Summerslam, No Mercy, Survivor Series and I have Armageddon paid for also. That and the Sky Sports PPVs. TBH, I wish I hadn't bothered getting most of them as they were pretty poor.

Just Summerslam. Was the only time I knew I'd have peace for the whole night so decided to watch a PPV in glorious Standard Definition for once :P

    Just Wrestlemania.

Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania would have been the only ones I got on box office this year.

If by "order" you mean "watch in other ways" then a few, I thought most ppvs were ok this year, according to Power Slam its been the best year ever for WWE ppvs, I dont see it myself though....

By "order" , I mean "paid money for".
I thought that when they first started doing them on Box Office that they'd fail, not sell any and they'd be back on Sky Sports in no time. Couldn't have been more wrong.

It was in the Observer this week, but it's sort of public knowledge

Brock Lesnar was the biggest PPV draw of the year

Without opening the can here but...
I'm loving the way that MMA has dominated that list. To me, it speaks volumes on everything thats wrong with Pro Wrestling as of lately.

I think the great thing is how simple the various feuds have been. De La Hoya vs Pacquiao was a total face vs face fight but it appealed to the Hispanic and Filipino fans

Lesnar was a draw mainly because of his pro wrestling fame but also just because of his body. There wasn't much more than that to the build-up to his fights

Wrestlemania's a draw in itself for the most part, although Mayweather turned out to be a bigger draw for it than he had in his own right before

The other six PPVs were all based on very simple feuds that really made people interested in the outcome of the fights. That's where pro wrestling and MMA are completely similar, in just getting people interested in a fight. It's different once the action in the ring starts, but the build up is based on the same principles. And the simple stuff is the kind of thing that the average person relates to

    Me too.

Pro Wrestling lost it luster for me when the Rock left.

The Rock vs Brock Lesnar in the UFC would be a huge draw. I should not have watched walking tall, cause the Rock has a chance if he fights as good in that as he does in the octagon:pac::pac:

How do you know that Mayweather was a bigger draw for a PPV that had 2world title matches and Ric Flair's last WWE match ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,235 ✭✭✭✭flahavaj

Brock drew 2 million buys for the 5 or 6 minutes he spent in the octagon so far in his career. Incredible.
