Problem With Old Sky Box.

I recently upgraded to Sky+HD and Multiroom. I put the old Panasonic box in the kids playroom. But ever since the picture goes bitty/blocky/jittery from time to time. The only way I can stop it is to reboot the box but it comes back after a while - anything from an hour to a few days. I haven't called Sky yet as I thought I'd ask the gurus on Boards first :D

The Panasonic box is 10 years old so maybe it's buggered but I'd sooner not replace it if I can avoid it.

The new HD box in living room is operating perfectly.

    Any ideas or suggestions?

Might be time to bid your Panny farewell.

I have known a few to develop that problem. Still though, they were generally a damn good receiver, and was unfortunate when Panasonic pulled out of the Skybox manufacturing.

Current Pace Skyboxes seem reliable now.

Yes, it's been a good box - this is the first problem I've ever had with the box itself.

Glad to hear Pace are reliable as the HD box is a Pace.

I take it I just ring Sky for new box. I also assume that second hand boxes can be had if I look hard enough.

You must be one of the lucky few to get a Pace SkyHD box, as most have to make do with the Thomson.

Sky can offer a box, but won't offer it for free (some are lucky to get a free one if they threaten to cancel, but it doesn't always work).

A second hand box would do too. Plenty about in various classified sources. Just avoid the older Pace boxes (2200/2500/2600) or older hardware in general, as generally, they'll be slower than newer ones (the Panasonic boxes were the fastest boxes of their time).
