They've had training sessions alright, but I don't think the final squad has been named yet.

They are playing Leinster A next week (the 17th I think), so that should give some indication, though Leinster A might have a good few of the Irish team playing just to give everyone a game.

The U20 Squad has not been announced yet. They're still in trial stage.
The U18s have been named but thats because they have a game in Italy this month.

I too know someone who is on it and don't think it has been announced yet I think they have a camp on the 18th where the final cuts are usually made.

edit : just noticed u were looking for training squad not actual squad selected

    Yes.
It will be released later today.

    Thanks.

So, can we start the interpro bitching, I predict they'll overlook loads of Munster talent to pick substandard Northerners....

    Thanks.

No mention of the Leinster game?

Interesting to see McCarthy didn't make it. Pity Kearney's out, he's a big talent imo.

Just wondering, how come there seems the be a lot more Leinster players than elsewhere, Munster in particular I thought would supply more? There's no provincial one upmanship implied in my question, I'm just wondering as a Leinster supporter, who is ashamed to admit that he doesn't know too much about the younger teams, if our up and comings are particularly bountiful at the minute?

I was at a Munster vs Leinster under 20s game and Leinster thrashed them by something like 40points Leinster have some serious talent coming through.

Far more rugby schools in Leinster, and indeed Ulster, than in Munster. No huge mystery to it.

Very few of the above players will come through for Ireland, or for their province.

perhaps the fact that leinster won the interpro's?

Ulster have the most rugby schools, then Leinster, then Munster, then Connacht.

So in theory, that's the order the provinces should be in in terms of talent.

Does anyone know what happened to the various U20's who won the Grand Slam in teh 6 Nations a year or two ago?

15 - Felix Jones Leinster Acadamy/Leinster A/Bench with senior side
    14 - Shane Monahan Leinster Acadamy/Leinster A
13 - Darren Cave full contract with Ulster
12 - Aidan Wynne full contract with connacht
11 - Keith Earls full Munster
10 - Ian Keatley full Connacht
    9 - Paul O'Donohoe Leinster Acadamy/A
1 - Cian Healy Leinster full
2 - Richard Sweeney Leinster acadamy
    3 - Jamie Hagan Leinster acadamy/Leinster A
    4 - Conor Mc Inerney Leinster Acadamy/Leinster A
5 - Andrew Browne full Connacht
6 - Thomas Anderson Ulster full
7 - Kevin Sheahan I think he was rumoured to be playing for the USA?! could be wrong
8 - David Pollock Captain Ulster full

    16 - Ger Slattery Unknown
    17 - Ruaidhri Murphy Leinster Acadamy/ Leinster A
    18 - Neilus Keogh Unknown
    19 - Eoghan Grace Unknown
20 - David Drake Ulster Acadamy
    21 - Niall O'Connor full Ulster
    22 - Kyle Tonetti Leinster Acadamy/ Leinster A

8 Leinster Acadamy or have played for Leinster A-all still in contention for provincial spots, 1 Ulster Acadamy, 9 with full provincial honours and 4, one of which i think has played for the USA and the other 3 im not so sure. Just 2 years later i think its interesting that almost 50% have full provincial caps. I think that discounting players at u20 that 'almost all will never get beyond AIL' is wrong, not just because of this obvious great year but at such a young age.

I said it last year that the 08 LSSC had outstanding talent coming from it. There's already 8 from lasts years cup in the u20 squad, all of whom are eligable again next year. Particularly great to see props-McGrath and O'Connell-Ireland's 'weak' area both are hugely talented. Ian McKinley has great potential at Out half. Michael Keating is ripping it up in the AIL whilst Gary Foley and Tom Sexton are already full Leinster Acadamy.

Ger Slattery is the goal-kicking hooker playing for Young Munster in the AIL. Serious talent, but a little small for the pro game and behind a lot of talent in the Munster set-up. Has played for Munster A though, iirc.

Eoin Grace is playing or Shannon, Munster A and is the Munster Academy.

I think Neilus Keogh (brother of Stephen iirc) is focussing on medical studies, but he is on a rugby scholarship with UCC.

actually dont think hes that small, great raw talent is our GER .

I haven't seen him play in a while, maybe I've got in wrong. He's up there with Varley in terms of overlooked talent, imo.

I'm sorry i missed out on those guys, tbh I would be more familiar with Leinster underage. So pretty much all of that 20s team have played for either their full province or the A equivilent.

The problem there is that Ulster schools sides are all a year older than the other schools so they miss out on much of the representative rugby. Hence also why there is no all-ireland schools trophy, which I'm sure there'd be a market for.

Yeah shiner is on scholarship over there now.

Really? Didn't know that, makes sense though.

No he;s not, I saw him the other day. ;)

He will be though to the best of my knowledge.
