I meant to post this last week:
Stadium and pool plan for defunct public-private partnership scheme

    PAUL CULLEN

A LEADING Dublin soccer club is proposing to build a football stadium on the site of one of the collapsed public-private partnership schemes between Dublin City Council and developer Bernard McNamara.

St Patrick's Athletic has proposed building an 8,000-seat stadium, pool, community centre, library and about 50 houses on part of the St Michael's Estate site in Inchicore, The Irish Times has learned.
    http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/ireland/2008/1201/1227910422692.html

I seem to recall a similar plan when Pat Dolan and Liam Buckley were in charge at Inchicore, but I can't seem to find anything about it on the net. I think relocating to a new site is the only viable long-term option for Pats, as I cannot see how Richmond Park could be developed to any great extent, given the lack of space.

Looks a common sense move for everybody.

Shouldn't be many objections from a plannning point of view.

Apparently the level of housing proposed by Pats falls well short of the planned by McNamara. Besides, when it comes to planning applications in this country, nothing is certain.

Yeah, there's no room for significant development of Richmond Park at all. But 8,000 seats?? I'd say the average attendence for a Pats match is about one and a half thousand.
