    we've had normal sky package for yonks. We've decided to get sky+.

    whats the costs involved?

    €149 plus 50euro installation for existing customers..... or if you are a new customer its free.

    you can ring and threaten to cancel. They might offer it to you for a discount. If not cancel and sign up in someone elses name if possible.

    I already have the required second cable run from the LNB to where the box is - can I do the install myself or do they force you to get an installer in?

    you can probably buy a 2nd hand box off Ebay or Adverts.ie and just ring sky to get the recording functions added to your card. there's no extra subscription involved.

    I had been having a lot of problems with incorrect billing and poor customer service this past few months,call out enginer failing to call out on agree date, had been on to them ranting and raving for the past while, eventually last week i said i will going to cancel the whole package, hey presto sky+ box with installation offered to me for 49 euro
    Installed yesterday,happy days.

    I called a number of times trying to get Sky + for cheaper than 149 + installation.. and got no joy talking to customer service.. anyway I decided that I was going to cancel for NTL Digital and worked out how much cheaper it is.. (even though if it is a crap system).. So i called the number and took the phone option to cancel sky.. i was asked 2 questions 1) my account number etc 2) reason for cancelling.. I told them how i was pissed off with having to pay 149 for sky + and am getting NTL as it is alot cheaper and i get setanta and NTL's recording service.. They immediately gave me Sky + for 49 euro all in.. Bastards got me for another 12 months.

    I'm just after getting it for €99 (€50 & €49 installation).They originally quoted me €199. I'm an existing customer for almost 10 years now and told them it was too expensive so the lady put me on hold and came back to offer it to me for €99.
    It all depends on who you get when you call them I think
