You'd be surprised at how many people don't know where there food or products come from.

Now that the little curly tailed pink friend is so topical. How many things can you name that come from pig?

The obvious ones that come to mind are:
    Sausages
    Rashers
    chops
    Ham
    Scratchings
    Gammon
    Bacon
    Black and White pudding
    Rolled pork
    Hotdogs
    Spam (insert monty python song)
    Scotch eggs!
    Jelly
    Trifle
    gummy bears.
    ice cream
    jams
    yogurt
    cream cheese
    margarine

    And . . . Marshmallows

Pig gelatin is used in loads of grub, as well, in fat-reduced foods to simulate the mouthfeel of fat and to create volume without adding calories.

    here's the science bit:
Gelatin (also gelatine, from French gélatine) is a translucent, colourless, brittle, nearly tasteless solid substance, extracted from the collagen inside animals' skin and bones. It has been commonly used as a gelling agent in food, pharmaceutical, photography, and cosmetic manufacturing. Substances containing gelatin or functioning in a similar way are called gelatinous. Gelatin is an irreversibly hydrolyzed form of collagen. Gelatin is classified as a foodstuff and has E441 E number. It is in almost every gummy we eat today as well as other things, such as marshmallows, and skittles.

Thats all i can summons up!

    Shazam!

That was a loony bin farm any way with Ferdinand the duck who thinks he is a rooster and Fly the dog that babe he calls mom.

    Meow

The only copy and paste bit i did was the science bit which i don't claim to have known. Just thought i'd throw it in! Next time i copy and paste something as useful reference i'll put a note beside it that it's Copy and pasted!

The rest is all out of thoughts from my brain (took a while to rattle them out but they were there!

    Tadaa!

    PS: I love magic markers

OMIGOD we use animal products in our FOOD now? I thought we ... etc etc etc ad nauseum

I love the gelatin thing, yes it is used a lot, yes it comes from animals but guess what if we didn't it would just be throw out as waste and surely we should be reducing waste in our doomed world?

Homer: It's just a little dirty! It's still good! It's still good!
    [Pig lands into the river.]
Homer: It's just a little slimy! It's still good! It's still good!
[Pig gets stuck in dam intake but then shoots out the other side, taking flight.]
Homer: It's just a little airborne! It's still good! It's still good!
    Bart: It's gone, Dad.
    Homer: I know.

I would imagine that if someone was a strict vegetarian they would not eat products with traces of any animal bits!

I was vegetarian for about 5 years i was in my late teens, until i discovered alcohol and a burger bar! And if i knew that there was animal trace in anything i wouldn't have ate it! Unlike now, i'd hunt it, skin it and cook it! Or unwrap and put in microwave!

Gelatin = tasty tasty tasty, whether sucked from the bones of a recently cooked animal (esp. pig trotters) or refined and used in delicious ice-cream

Btw, gelatin isn't made gooey, it just is gooey.

Good man yerself! Most people don't realize all these pigs and cattle live to be eaten, there's no prouder moment in a pigs life than the day it's shipped off to the meat factory to become pork chops.

Em, me and all the other animals on planet earth.
