Me too! But I've really noticed the difference with the two lads I play with, they have half the walking and I just can't believe how light a full bag of clubs is when you sling it over your shoulder.

As I said though, playing tomorrow and will see how I feel about it after 18 holes!

Been thinking of getting a carrybag for a while now as all the "roped off" parts of the course are adding about 11 million miles of walking to my round. Didnt want to spend too much as I plan to go back to the motorised trolley in the summer. Two of my regular playing buddies have Titleist carrybags and both were €120.

So I grabbed this bad boy (above link) for less than €50 delivered to the door. Arrived this morning. I have all 14 clubs fitting nicely in it and everything that was in the pockets of my cartbag fits more than comfortably into the pockets of this.

Might be playing a round tomorrow so I'll see how practical it is and how much I like/dislike doing the carrying thing, but, I must say, I'm delighted with it.
ropes on my couurse get to me too got a bargain myself €2 a pair of scissors;)

    :D - Good shout, would've saved myself €46 too! :D

Kingser - will let you know how it goes alright. The cynic in me assumes it won't be as durable as one of the leading brands (jesus, I sounded like Biddy from Glenroe on that SURF add a few yrs ago! Yikes!) - I gather it's usually the legs on these things that go first, correct?

But, for less than fifty notes, I figured it's well worth the risk.

I bought a cheap bag once and it lasted about three months....the stitching went.

I then bought a Sun Mountain bag and have had it for over 5 years........a bargain is only a bargain over time.

Let us know how it goes and I hope it gives you years of service.

I'm glad you got a two strap one as it centres the load on your back. I find it easier to carry than to pull a trolley (pulling makes me twist my back).

Carry bag is great, but problem is Ireland, you can't go out for around without your raingear, hat etc..

I have carry bag and a trolly bag, just depends on weather, course etc.

But you defo have more freedom and less walking..

Jokes aside - I can never understand why people drag the trolley, it's FAR easier to push it. You should extend the trolley arm as far as you can as well, makes it much easier.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure my raingear will fit in this bag also... Mind you, sitting here in me golf gear waiting for the frost to clear - two golf bags, no golf! :(

Should we take it from your lack of feedback on the bag, that you collapsed carrying it or slipped on a icy bunker ledge and died Whip It?

Picked up one of these things recently for the winter months. Unbelievably light and perfect for 14 holes or less or even just nipping to the range...

Sorry lads, completely forgot to come back to y'all...

With the frost and the fact I had to go to work in the afternoon, I could only get 10holes in but the bag was great. Comfortable, handy for the clubs - they are certainly a little bit "tighter" in the bag than a cartbag but I would've expected that.

One of my favourite little aspects of carrying the bag was the fact that after hitting a shot, you throw the bag on your back and can grab your towel that's attached to the bag and as you're walking just clean the club and slip it back into its home. A small thing, but very handy... ever tried to chase your electric trolley while cleaning your club at the same time??

Overall - I'm delighted with it so far! Was supposed to play today but frost scuppered that as well... So Saturday should be my first full round with it.

What's it like in your world Whip It?? Can I visit? I'd love to be able to play golf that often, fancy doing one of those 'Wife Swap' type things but golf related perhaps? :D

No problem pal - but you won't get much for your end of the bargain - I'm single. Hence all the golf I suppose!! :D:D

Truth be told, I work in the evenings so can golf in the morning... when it's not frosty that is ;)

And my world, Sionn, is a crazy, crazy place :D :pac:

Of course, evening work, that's a plan for 2009!

Intriguing..... I'll still pitch the idea to TV3 and Channel 4!

Thought it was about time I gave a little update/feedback on the carrybag situation...

Have carried the bag in three full rounds now and I have to say I find it very handy. Bag itself is fine, the legs work great etc and I'm getting used to taking the shortwalk more often! At first, I'd forget myself and still walk around the greens etc even with the bag on my back, out of habit...

I've noticed that it seems to be important to carry the bag properly at all times (ie, with both shoulder straps on etc). The first full round I played was Moyvalley over the Xmas and I was surprised as I was a bit stiff afterward.

But I thought about it afterward and figured that on a few occasions I had kinda lazily just grabbed the bag and carried it "half-a*sed" if you know what I mean. I knocked down a drive at one stage, only about 120yds down the fairway and I kinda angrily grabbed the bag by the handle and carried it by my side. I did this a couple of times for shorter walks of 40/50 yds and other times I maybe just threw one strap one the shoulder and walked on.

But the last two rounds I've played I've been conscious to carry the bag properly and it's made quite a difference.

So, in conclusion - happy days! :)
