    Hi there!

Following the puncture that we had on our yesterday ride i am about to go out and buy two more tubes to have em with me. But i don't really know much about what to buy.. I don't mind spending few euros more to buy better quality if it would make any difference.

Any suggestions? My tire is 700x23.

(P.S. I am suprised with the amount of broken glass on the streets!)

Not being funny, but just go into a shop and ask for a tube for 700x23 tyres, and buy what they have. From my experience most small shops have just the one brand, or a few brands and all at the same price. Puncture protection really starts and ends with the tyre.

So conti ultra gatorskins or armadillo tyres, both have pros and cons (search the forum for threads on them, there has been a lot of debates)

My tyres are just 3 weeks old, they are CST C-Zar that came with the bike. I don't know in what class they belong but i would assume that they are fairly cheap and not something special. Should i look on changing them as well?

    details on the czar here
Gatorskins or armadillos are the 2 that are most recommended here. Personally have gatorskins without a problem for 6 months, no punctures. Armadillos are reputed to be more slippy in the wet.

I think the OP asked about tubes not tires.

No worries Diarmuid! If the change of tyres will help keeping the tubes on the long run all advices are free to come! :-)

You can be unlucky and puncture on any tyres. If you just had one puncture so far I would not consider that you should really be looking at changing the tyres at this stage. If you are puncturing more than once a month might be time to look at it then. Those ones you have seem to have some sort of puncture resistance as it is.

Regarding tubes, I like Vittoria Ultralites because they are relatively light and pack up smaller than some in a saddlebag. As others have said the tube doesn't make a lot of difference regarding puncture protection.

I went to 3 bikes stores and all of them had the Schwalbe. So ended up to Joe Daly and bought them for 6 euro each :) (He is such a nice fella! He even put to me to sign his guest book because i am from Greece :D)
